Dear Friends:

It is with great sadness that I write to inform you of the passing yesterday of JoAnn McGrath, Chair, The Highland Street Foundation.  She is mourned by her family and many friends but, most especially, by her children and their spouses, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Under JoAnn’s leadership, the Foundation has dedicated 35 years of charitable giving and directed more than $260 million to address the needs of children and families within Massachusetts and California.  JoAnn was a proud partner to hundreds of non-profit partners and spent her lifetime supporting organizations she believed made the greatest impact.  She was never one to seek or expect recognition for her charitable endeavors, her work was purely an extension of her values and strong belief that every person deserves a chance to live a healthy, productive life.

Here at The Highland Street Foundation, we remember JoAnn with great affection – as a leader who cared deeply for her those in need within our communities.  She possessed a terrific sense of humor, a genuine interest in others, an unwavering resilience, and a truly humble demeanor.  Her presence will be missed, but her family and Foundation team will honor her legacy by continuing to serve disadvantaged and under-served individuals and families.

On behalf of the McGrath Family, thank you for all you do to improve the lives of those within our neighborhoods – JoAnn was honored to call you all friends.

Thank you,
Blake Jordan
