“We are honored and humbled every day by the work these organizations do and the good fortune we have to be able to help them.”

-David McGrath, Trustee, Highland Street Foundation

ReadBoston Storymobile Summer Events
ReadBoston was founded by Boston Mayor Thomas Menino and other city leaders in 1995 as a non-profit children’s literacy organization with an ambitious goal: to ensure that every child in Boston can read at a grade level by the end of the third grade. ReadBoston seeks to be a catalyst for change within all of Boston’s diverse communities by funneling resources, innovative programs, and books into Boston neighborhoods and by creating partnerships with organizations committed to helping children.

The Highland Street Foundation partners with ReadBoston to provide weekly storytelling events all summer long. Events take place at 11 a.m. on Thursdays at the TADPole Playground on the Boston Common. The TADPole Playground was founded by the McGrath Family in honor of David McGrath, jr.

Halloween Event
ReadBoston also holds a Halloween Party every year.  In 2009, it was held on October 30th at the Boston Public Library.  More than 60 kids from the Wang YMCA joined the Highland Street Foundation and ReadBoston for a Halloween craft, Halloween cookies and punch, and a story telling.
