St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center is a large community-based hospital located in Boston’s Brighton neighborhood. St. Elizabeth’s is a thoroughly modern inpatient and outpatient facility and a teaching affiliate of Tufts University School of Medicine. It offers its patients access to some of Boston's most respected physicians and cutting-edge treatments for a full range of medical specialties.
The hospital was formed in 1868 when five laywomen members of the third order of St. Francis founded St. Elizabeth's as a place dedicated to the care of women from Boston's South End. Today, known locally as “St. E’s,” the medical center has grown and evolved into a full-service facility that offers comprehensive and compassionate medical care to women, men, and families.
The Highland Street Foundation is proud to support St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in acquiring lifesaving technologies and advancing medical research. The McGrath Family Cardiovascular Center offers patients some of the most advanced diagnostic and therapeutic procedures available today. It is important to the trustees that St. Elizabeth’s remains one of the premier medical facilities in the Boston area.
